What
is a motor sailing ship?
Motor sailing ships – the perfect combination
of sailing tradition and modern comfort! The vessels
of our fleet are motor sailing ships, mostly built
in the traditional wooden design. Some wooden
vessels in our fleet are more than 100 years old
– which anyhow means that only the name
and the hull shape are in fact that old. In a
number of reconstructions, the vessels have been
adapted to today‘s demands. New vessels
will have steel hulls, while the interiors are
still made of wood. Our motor sailing ships have
comfortable en suite showers and toilets, and
with individually adjustable air conditioning
in the cabins; mostly furnished with queen-size
beds, twin beds or bunk beds. Normally, our ships
cruise the routes with engine power. Maybe in
your imagination an “engine powered journey“
at first glance cannot match with a pure sailing
trip. At a second glance, however, it can offer
quite a few advantages:
• less dependent on wind and weather
• stable handling of the vessel
• more accurate routing, thus more sights
can be visited
• more space and freedom of movement on
the sun deck.
